Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) — Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the
Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at the Armoured Defensive
Weapons Institute and the Electronic Weapons Institute under the Academy of
Defence Sciences on September 11 and 12.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un listened to the report on the
development of major core technologies completed through the joint research
of the Armoured Defensive Weapons Institute and the Tank Designing
Bureau.
He learned in detail about the research in the field of armoured defence
including the development of special composite armour, the reaction test of
the intelligent active protection system in the process of its final test before
introduction and various designs of the effective defence structure against
upper attack.
He appreciated that the combat capability of the armoured forces of the DPRK
has been remarkably bolstered up as the directional infrared and jamming
equipment, active protection system and passive protection means were
successfully developed and introduced.
On the same day there was a comprehensive operation test of the new-type
active protection system against the frontal, lateral and upper attack by live
firing of anti-tank missiles of various kinds.
The test proved in practice the very high reactivity of the detection system and
revolving intercepting projectile launchers and the great advantage of the
newly developed active protection system.
Kim Jong Un visited the Electronic Weapons Institute and learned about
and guided important work.
Saying that the Ninth Congress of the WPK would put forward the policy of
simultaneously pushing forward the building of nuclear forces and
conventional armed forces in the field of building up national defence, he

expressed the belief that the Academy of Defence Sciences would continue to
stand in the vanguard in the work for modernizing the conventional armed
forces true to the Party's line of building a powerful army. -0-

Shooting Contest between Sniper Sub-unit
under Metropolitan Garrison Command and
Sniper Sub-unit of Special Mobile Force of

Central Security Organ

Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) — Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the
Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic
People’s Republic of Korea, visited the training base No. 38 in the Pyongyang
area and oversaw the shooting contest between the sniper sub-unit under the
Metropolitan Garrison Command and the sniper sub-unit of the special mobile
force of the central security organ on September 12.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un learned about the supply of high-
precision long-range sniper rifles, various measuring instruments and special
camouflage suits to major units and sub-units and watched the shooting
contest between the sub-units.
The shooting contest was held in the way of evaluating the total scores
recorded by ten snipers from each sub-unit through shooting at circular
targets 1 000-meter and 1 500-meter away.
He gave to the chief of the General Staff the orientations of the prospective
scale of training sniper force of our armed forces and the plan for the
organization of snipers in the whole army and instructed him to take relevant
measures.
Referring to the impact of expanding the sphere of snipers' activities on the
overall military activities of our army, Kim Jong Un repeatedly stressed the
need to systematically train the special sniper force and intensify their
activities.
Noting that it is important to build in a scientific way the comprehensive
training bases, where snipers can personally experience the extreme combat

conditions and adapt to them, in order to train all the snipers into excellent
"hunters" with marksmanship of never missing targets, he said that various
training methods and innovative education and training system should be
established to meet the requirements of modern warfare, and set forth

Field Guidance at Construction Site of
Ryonggang County Hospital

Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) — Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the
Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at the construction site of the
Ryonggang County Hospital on September 12.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Pak Jong
Chon, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK.
While looking round the construction site, Kim Jong Un clarified important
issues which need to be paid attention to in the construction.
Saying that in the grand construction campaign for regional rejuvenation, too,
we should create and introduce the most efficient and advanced ways and
methods of construction, he stressed the need to take relevant measures to
decisively raise the level of technical equipment and mechanization of the
regiments at all levels of the Korean People's Army in charge of regional
construction.
Noting that the work for the overall transformation of the regional areas is not
the struggle to be completed in a year or two, but the medium- and long-term
work to continue in the future, he said that what is important for all
construction units is to have a vital stake in training technical forces and
steadily increasing the ranks of skilled workers so as to successfully complete
the huge construction projects which will be newly assigned to them every
year by their own efforts. Then, he set forth tasks and ways to do so.
He said that our army should fight against the enemy and win victory but it
should also fight against the backwardness of the regional areas remaining in

the present era. Noting that our revolutionary cause can advance rapidly only
when the army carves out and creates more wealth of the people and
civilization in the new era and leads the era of prosperity, he expressed great
belief and expectation that all the officers and men of the construction
regiments would fulfill heavy yet honorable responsibility and duty assigned to
them standing on the forefront of implementing the Party's policy on regional
