Press Statement by Spokesman for Korea

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korea Association for Human
Rights Studies issued the following press statement on Saturday:
The UN Security Council, tasked to lead global peace, security and international justice,
has turned into a theatre of human scum, yielding to the high-handed and arbitrary
practices of a specified country.
On August 17, the UNSC, whose basic mission is to deal with the international peace
and security issue, was transformed into a pseudo "human rights council" discussing the
non-existent "human rights issue" of the DPRK.
The Korea Association for Human Rights Studies strongly denounces and rejects the
UNSC for having haggled about the human rights situation in an individual country,
wantonly abusing its authority specified in the UN Charter, pursuant to the U.S. and its
vassal forces' sordid and despicable anti-DPRK "human rights" racket.
The U.S. has gravely violated the DPRK people's right to existence and development
through its unprecedented unethical and barbarous policy of isolating and stifling the
DPRK. It is an insult and infringement on the spirit of the World Declaration of Human
Rights and the UN Charter that such a country brought the human rights situation of the
DPRK to the UNSC.
If the UNSC truly cares about the well-being and rights of the Korean people, it must,
first of all, call into question the anti-human rights and anti-peace acts of the U.S. which
has threatened the sovereignty, security and interests of the DPRK, regarding hostility
toward the DPRK as its state policy.
Arousing indignation is the fact that the UNSC took issue with the DPRK over its human
rights situation, at the instruction of the U.S., the world's worst human rights abuser with
the most shameful human rights records. Moreover, it is a shame that the UNSC, styling
itself the top international political organ, took human scum, who fled after abandoning
their homeland and parents, wives and children only to save their dirty lives, to its
conference hall.
The U.S. "politely invited" the human scum who lost their worth as human beings to sit
next to it, revealing by itself that it is no more than the poor human scum.

It is a well-known fact that "defectors from the north", praised and valued by the U.S. as
"human rights fighters", are all the worst criminals, morally degenerated ones and
swindlers.
Even now, the international community vividly remembers the fact that "Sin Tong Hyok",
who ran amuck in the anti-DPRK "human rights" racket at the UN arena after betraying
his country, parents and brothers and fleeing to the U.S., confessed eight years ago that
he had distorted his past for a petty amount of money, thus showing the falsehood of
"testimony of defectors from the north" all over the world.
The DPRK people know well about their human rights situation and they make a right
appraisal of it by themselves.
Nothing is more serious miscalculation than to think that they can cover, with the absurd
lies of a few human scum, the voices of tens of millions of people who regard the pain of
others as their own, help and lead each other forward, work hard with love for their life
and optimism about the future and enjoy genuine human rights.
The UNSC is no more than a private dictatorship organization and an anti-human rights
plot-breeding one of the U.S. as it is pulling up the genuine human rights situation of a
sovereign state, disregarding such truth.
The U.S. should be mindful that it is not the only one able to slander the human rights
situation in a country by employing an individual person.
On this planet, there are more people who spit in the American-style human rights than
those who think good for them. And many people are displeased with the U.S. society
which is turning into the tundra of human rights, due to the ignorance and incompetence
of the U.S. corrupt ruling forces.
It will be easier to find people who have something to say about the U.S. miserable
human rights situation in New York, where the UN headquarters is located, than to find a
rubble on the road.
Ensuring genuine human rights is inseparable from the defence of the national
sovereignty.
It is the top priority in ensuring human rights in the DPRK to thoroughly defend the
independent rights and interests of tens of millions of the Korean people from the illegal
hostile and existent threat of the U.S., empire of evils.
We will never tolerate the anti-DPRK "human rights" smear campaign of the U.S. and its
followers but defend in every way the sovereignty, socialist system, security and

interests of the DPRK, the cradle of the genuine life for tens of millions of popular
